New regulations for commercial drivers are in effect beginning May 21, 2014. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that all medical examiners who wish to conduct medical examinations for interstate Commercial Motor Vehicle drivers must complete training about Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration physical qualifications, regulations and advisory criteria, and pass a certification test. All medical certificates issued on or after this date must be issued by examiners listed on the National Registry. No longer can a driver see their primary doctor unless they have completed and passed the course.
At Five Star Urgent Care, all of our providers have completed the training and are able to perform the DOT medical examinations. We can perform the exams 7 days a week, and no appointment is needed. Stop into a location nearest you.
